Slice of Life: A Different Kind of Theater Today

This CrappyCameraPhone(TM) picture doesn't really show it, but at the center of that arch over WLS-TV's showcase studio (190 North State Street) are the words "State-Lake."  That's because through this arch moved hundreds of thousands of people back when this was the State-Lake Theater.  Tourists and newcomers (like myself) only notice the flashy Chicago Theater across the street, but this 1919 gem was showing movies all the way up to 1985.
