Slice of Life: Trump Above the Tracks

If the Wabash elevated line continued north, it would plow right through the Trump International Hotel and Tower at 401 North Wabash Avenue.  Too bad it doesn't, because the combination of massive tower, a drawbridge over the river, and a passage through a building would certainly be a great engineering feat, and make a heck of a great post card.

  1. It's interesting how Trump Tower is lit in sun reflecting the solid blue sky while all the other buildings are cast in shadows (for the most part).

  2. Yes, and if the line continued east, it would plunge into Lake Michigan after plowing through the park at Lakeshore East. Fortunately the designers of the Loop elevated were visionary enough to have forseen all of this.
